How to Remove Patches
2002.06.29

I haven't had any problems keeping the patches on yet. Granted, I've only used three so far, but I'm hoping that their current "performance" will be indicative of their future results---unlike the stock market, grr. I just stick them on, press down for a while, and they cling pretty good. They seem to hold up to bending, folding, and twisting fairly well. Now, getting them off is another story.
They've actually stuck well enough that they don't come off easily. It's a good thing when you're active but it just plain hurts when you're taking them off. I likened it to being stuck with duct tape. It just won't let go of the skin without a fight.
So I was relating to a friend about getting rid of the patches and that chunk of the conversation went something like this:
" ... and those patches really stick on pretty good. I mean, I was even trying to peel it off in the shower under running water and it just wouldn't come off!
So I have a new technique for removing them: I close my eyes, grip the corner real good, and yank really hard while yelling 'ARMAGEDDON!!!' And they just pop right off.
Yeah, well I think I'm yelling 'armageddon', but maybe it's coming out more like a high-pitched squeal. So if you're ever at home on a Friday or Monday and you hear this little girl scream, it's probably me. "
Update 2002.07.13: Thank goodness other attempts at removing patches have been much easier. What probably made getting this patch off the hardest is that it was on an area which was pretty dry all of the time and relatively cool. Also it didn't receive a lot of bending and folding for the 2 days it was on. So trying to remove it was much harder. More recent patches come off easier with a sharp tug.
