sex reassignment surgery (srs): vaginoplasty: lists |
In my preparations for vaginoplasty I made the following packing list. (See also the labiaplasty list.)
Vaginoplasty 2004 Packing List:

Clothing:
- Bras (3x). Black, white, sport.
- Earrings.
- Jeans (1x). Loose.
- Pyjamas.
- Sandals (2x). 1x casual, 1x dress/club.
- Shorts (1x).
- Slippers. Or thongs.
- Skirts (3x). I'm told they're much easier to deal with.
- Sneakers (1x).
- Socks (5x). Some ankle, some calf.
- Sweats. 1x bottoms, 1x sweatshirts/sweatjacket.
- T-shirts (3x).
- Tops (1x). Something nice, fun.
- Underwear (7x). 4x regular, 3x oversize. I'm told that due to swelling and wearing pads that your normal underwear may not fit.

Health / Beauty:
- Alcohol prep pads (10x). For swabbing and stuff, especially for prepping the area for reapplying estradiol patches.
- Arnica Montana (2x bottle).
- Bacitracin ointment.
- Baby changing pads (3x).
- Baby wipes (1x pack).
- Body lotion.
- Breath strips.
- Cane (retractable). To take the stress out of walking. Also people noted this makes people get out of your way or offer to help.
- Comb.
- Conditioner. Maybe I'll pick up some more AG (Advance Group Hair Products Ltd.), one of my favs now.
- Conditioner (leave-in).
- Deodorant.
- Dilators. Will receive dilators after SRS.
- Epi-Pen.
- Estradiol patches.
- Facial cleanser cloths.
- Facial moisturizer.
- Floss.
- Glasses.
- Glasses case.
- Hairbands. Ponytail holders, hair bands.
- Hairbrush.
- Hairdryer.
- Invalid rings (2x). Yeah, the inflatable "donuts". I'll probably get another one just to have it around.
- Laxatives. Seneca, prune juice.
- Lip balm. I love L'Occitane's.
- Medical tape.
- Nail clippers.
- Neosporin.
- Sanitary pads (medium-flow). Pantyliners are probably too flimsy.
- Shaver blade.
- Shaver handle.
- Shampoo.
- Shower cap.
- Sunglasses.
- Sunscreen.
- Thermometer (digital).
- Thermometer probe covers.
- Toothbrush.
- Toothpaste.
- Tweezers.
- Watch (digital).

Electronics:
- CD-Rs (blank, 5x).
- Cellular phone.
- Cellular charger.
- Digicam. Yay. Powershot G2 rocks.
- Digicam charger.
- Digicam CF adapter.
- DVDs. For those who get bored.
- Extension cord.
- Games. Remember UT2003 and NWN discs.
- Headphones. Mmm...I love my earbuds.
- Laptop. Must load with apps, music, games.
- Laptop power supply.
- Mouse.
- Palm Pilot.
- Palm recharging base.

Office / documentation:
- Airline ticket receipts.
- File folders/organizers. Remember the mega organizer!!!
- Hotel receipts.
- Maps. General street map (thank you AAA), maps to hotel, maps to surgery centre.
- Paper.
- Pens. Gel pens rock!
- Pencils.
- SRS information packet.

Food / drink:
- Candy. Or granola. Or something small and portable.
- Ensure. I know it's gross, but I actually do like this stuff.
- Soda. 6-pack 500 mL bottles Mountain Dew Livewire.
- Water.

Gifts:
- Gift for nurses. I was told this would be a nice touch since they are nice and do help you quite a bit.

Purse:
- ID. Driver's license, health cards, etc.
- Keys.
- Money. Cash.
- Purse. My messenger bag rocks too.
- Wallet.

Miscellaneous:
- Backpack.
- Napkins.
- Pillowcase. For covering the donut.
- Plastic bags.
- Suitcase (small).
- Towel (small).
- Ziploc bags.

- Request a wheelchair for the airport both boarding and deplaning.

- Aloe vera gel.
- Baby changing pads.
- Distilled vineagar.
- Neosporin.
- Rubbing alcohol.
- Surgilube (1x case).

Food / drink:
- Beans (refried). 2x cans.
- Bread. 1 loaf white bread.
- Butter. 2 packs unsalted butter.
- Cheese. 3x packs shredded cheese.
- Cranberry juice.
- Eggs. 1x dozen.
- Fruit. Assorted oranges, limes, lemons, watermelon, canteloupe, pineapple, mangoes.
- Granola.
- Meat. 3 packs assorted frozen Asian meatballs (fish, chicken, pork). 1 pack boneless chicken breasts. 1 pack lean ground beef.
- Milk.
- Noodles / pasta. 2 packs Barilla linguine or spaghetti. 2 packs Chinese egg noodles. 4x bottles assorted marinara.
- Packaged meals. 10x assorted Tasty Bite meals. 10x assorted Amy's Kitchen frozen entrees. 3x Hamburger Helper.
- Soda. 10x Safeway flavored sparking water. 12-pack Diet Coke with Lemon and Lime.
- Soup. A case of assorted Wolfgang Puck soups.
- Tortillas (flour, 1x big pack).
- Veggies. 3x white or yellow onions. 2x canned asparagus spears. 1x bunch green onions. 1 can sliced olives. 1 big pack Caesar salad ready-pak. 2 packs frozen assorted veggies.

Miscellaneous:
- Mini pillow. For the car seat, instead of using the donut.
- Paper towels.
- Stuffed Totoro or Tarepanda plushie. I have to have my creature comforts.
- Toilet paper.
- Wax paper (1x roll).
